BLOG 8: Insights for Design

Here is my understanding of Blog8 task:

Create Insight Statements

From create insight statements, i learned that the first thing we need to do is to select a theme and convert it into a core brief for the study. This should be followed by prioritizing our insights. After that reviewing the key outcomes of our initial design challenges and definitions, and discarding statements that are not directly related to the challenges. Finally invite different people to participate in the discussion to understand the different voices and then bring the insights into play in the prototype and the rest of the design

  • Examples of Insights for Design
  1. Observe life well, accumulate design experience in life, and accumulate experience frantically from these things.
  2. Insightful design should be human-centered, always go to what users really need, such as the imagery was memorable and powerful for our stakeholders but the client was surprised by the lack of overlap.
  3. The design should start from the proposed problem, not from the design outcome, and we need to find the most important problem to solve.
  4. Our design needs to be tested with users continuously to make the product more convincing.
  • Conclusion

Insights work is a creative process, don’t let your work suffer by limiting your “research” to hard numbers or your own primary research. We need to think from the user’s perspective and do human-centered design.
